Judges of the 2009 Competition
The 3 judges are:
Jon Jacobson is the William H. Gates, Sr. Fellow in
Innovation and Entrepreneurship and a Program Manager with the Alliance of
Angels. Additionally, he is studying
finance and entrepreneurship as an MBA student at the Foster School of Business
at the University of Washington with plans to pursue a career working with
early-stage companies upon graduation.
Jon graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in English and
spent five years as a Field Artillery Officer in the US Army. After his time in the service and before
returning to graduate school Jon consulted on process development and application
integration efforts supporting the launch of Boeing’s 787 airplane. Jon lives with his wife Kayti in West Seattle
and enjoys golf, skiing, running, and hiking when he finds the time.
Jon Gilbert received his BA, Accounting from the University of
Washington and his MBA from Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business. An accomplished private equity investor, Jon
joined Frazier Healthcare Ventures at inception in 1991 and served as a General
Partner for five funds; affiliated with Frazier through 2005. Jon's next adventure began when he joined the
Strategic Development Group at Premera Blue Cross in 2006 where he is involved
with a range of corporate strategy, business development and innovation
initiatives. Jon is also a Certified
Public Accountant.
Jonathan Weintraub has spent his career advising and
managing growth companies both as an investment banker and as an operating
executive. He is currently CFO and COO
of SeaMobile, an Ignition Ventures portfolio company that provides remote
telecommunications services. He has
previously held roles as a Partner at Lake Washington Capital, Managing
Director at UBS in investment banking and Vice President of Harmon Publishing,
the nation’s largest publisher of real estate classified magazines. Jonathan graduated from Harvard College and
from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar. He is currently a Trustee of The Bush School
and The Harvard Crimson, and has previously served as a Trustee and Treasurer
of The Dalton School, Chairman of the Board and Treasurer of The Harvard
Crimson and as a Trustee of the Citizens Budget Commission. A life-long New Yorker, he moved to Seattle
in 2006 where he lives with his wife and twin daughters.
